Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
YOU IDENTITY Inc. ("YOU ID," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at whoyouare.ai and any related pages, sign-up flows, and services we operate (collectively, the "Services").
YOU ID is built on a simple idea: your identity should work through you, not happen to you. That principle guides how we treat your data. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Services or joining our waitlist, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who We Are
YOU IDENTITY Inc. is a Delaware C Corporation. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us through the contact options on whoyouare.ai.
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, YOU ID is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
2. The Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways.
Information you give us directly. When you join the waitlist, sign in, contact us, or otherwise interact with the Services, you may provide your phone number, your name, a .you handle you choose, and any messages or information you submit through our contact tools. If you contact us as a member of the press, an investor, a platform, or a user, we collect the details you choose to share in that exchange.
Payment information. If you make a payment to lock a handle or purchase a paid tier, our third-party payment processor collects and processes your payment details. We do not store full payment card numbers. We retain a record of the transaction, including the tier purchased, the amount, the status, and the handle it relates to.
Company selections. The Services let you indicate companies that hold data you created. We record the companies you select, associated with your account, so we can measure demand for bringing those companies into the platform and so you can later direct your data. This selection information is identifiable to your account within our systems. We do not publish which user selected which company; aggregate demand may be shown, but individual selections are kept to our internal, access-controlled systems.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your approximate location derived from your IP address (such as country or region), your device type, your browser and user-agent string, the website or source that referred you, the pages and paths you view, timestamps, session identifiers, and similar usage and analytics data. We collect this using first-party methods and store it in our own systems.
Referral information. If you join through someone else's referral link, we record that you were referred by that person's .you handle so we can attribute the referral. If you refer others, we record how many people visited your link and how many completed sign-up.
International interest information. If you provide a phone number from outside the United States, we do not enroll you in the live waitlist. Instead we collect your name, your phone number, and the country indicated by your number, so we can gauge interest by region and contact you if and when we open the Services where you are.
Communications. We keep records of messages you send us and verification codes we send you, along with related metadata such as delivery status and timing.
We do not knowingly collect more than we need to operate the Services and the waitlist.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the waitlist, including verifying your phone number, creating your account, assigning and calculating your position in line, and operating the referral system.
- Provide and operate
.youhandles, including holding, claiming, locking, the handle competition described in our Terms, and the related features we offer now or in the future. - Process payments for paid tiers and handle locks, and keep records of those transactions.

- Respond to your inquiries and provide support.
- Protect the Services, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and maintain security.

Our legal bases for processing (where required by law) include your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, the necessity of processing to provide a service you requested, and compliance with our legal obligations.
4. About the YOU ID Model
YOU ID's mission involves giving people ownership of and participation in the value of their own identity data. During the current pre-launch and waitlist period, we are not buying, selling, brokering, or monetizing your personal information, and we do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing. The waitlist exists to register interest, take pre-launch handle locks, and reserve your place and .you handle ahead of launch.
When we introduce features that allow you to participate in the value of your data, those features will be governed by clear, specific, opt-in terms presented to you at that time. Nothing in this policy authorizes us to monetize your data without that separate, explicit consent.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
Service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services for us, such as our cloud hosting and database provider, our SMS delivery provider, our payment processor, and our analytics infrastructure. These providers process information on our behalf and under contractual obligations to protect it.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a security incident.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy or notify you of any material change.
With your direction. We share information when you ask us to or otherwise consent.
6. Your Messaging Choices and Consent
We send two kinds of text messages.
Verification messages are sent when you request a code to sign up or log in. These are necessary to use the Services.
Updates and notifications include progress on your place in line, launch news, alerts when someone you referred joins if you opt in, and alerts if a handle you were holding is taken. We send the optional updates only after you have given express consent, such as by checking the consent box during sign-up.
You can opt out of non-essential messages at any time by replying STOP to any text from us. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Opting out of updates will not remove you from the waitlist, but you may stop receiving progress and handle notifications.
7. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to operate the waitlist and Services, to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and to comply with our legal obligations. Verification codes are short-lived and deleted or expired shortly after use. Transaction records are kept as needed for financial, tax, and legal purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, the right to opt out of certain processing, and the right to withdraw consent.
United States. We currently operate the live waitlist for users in the United States. If you are a resident of California or another state with applicable privacy laws, you may have rights to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise any right, contact us through whoyouare.ai. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. You may be entitled to appeal a decision we make about your request.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secrets management for credentials. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International Users
We operate in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. We do not currently enroll users outside the United States in the live waitlist; if you submit a non-US number, we collect only your name, number, and country to contact you about future expansion. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
12. Third-Party Links
The Services may contain links to third-party sites or services we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party you visit.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, or you wish to exercise your rights, contact us through the contact options at whoyouare.ai.
This Privacy Policy is provided as a general template and starting point. It does not constitute legal advice. Because YOU ID handles identity information, takes payments, and intends to offer features involving the value of personal data and the sending or receiving of money, you should have this policy reviewed by qualified legal counsel before relying on it at launch.
